How to Use the Preflop Range Trainer

This trainer helps you memorize GTO (Game Theory Optimal) preflop range charts so you can make better decisions at the poker table. You'll be quizzed on which hands to raise, call, or fold in different positions and scenarios.

Getting Started

πŸͺ‘

1. Pick your spot. On the home screen, click a seat at the table. Each seat represents a position (Lojack, Hijack, Cutoff, Button, Small Blind, Big Blind). A menu will appear showing the available training scenarios for that position.

You can also select scenarios directly from the sidebar on the left.

🎯

2. Fill the chart. You'll see a 13x13 hand grid. Mark which hands you think should be played:

Raise Call Fold

For opening ranges, click or drag to mark hands as Raise or leave as Fold. For calling ranges, use the paint mode toggle to switch between Raise and Call, then click or drag across the grid.

πŸ“Š

3. Check your work. Hit Submit to see your score. Incorrect cells will be highlighted so you can see exactly where your ranges differ from GTO.

Use Show Answer to reveal the full correct chart. Track your progress over time in the Performance Stats panel in the sidebar.

Reading the Grid

The 13x13 grid represents all 169 possible starting hand combinations. Suited hands (e.g. AKs) are above the diagonal, offsuit hands (e.g. AKo) are below, and pocket pairs (e.g. AA, KK) run along the diagonal.

Scenarios

Opening Ranges cover situations where no one has raised before you. Your decision is whether to raise or fold.

Calling Ranges cover situations where another player has already raised. Your decision is whether to re-raise, call, or fold.

Tip: Start with opening ranges from late positions (Button, Cutoff) β€” they're wider and more forgiving. As you get comfortable, work your way to earlier positions and calling scenarios. The more you practice, the more these ranges become second nature!

Welcome to the Preflop Range Trainer

In poker, Game Theory Optimal (GTO) play defines the mathematically optimal strategy for every situation β€” telling you whether to raise, call, or fold based on your position and the action before you. Range charts are a way to visualize this strategy, summarizing the correct action for every possible hand in a given scenario.

This tool helps you memorize those GTO range charts so you can make better decisions at the poker table without having to think twice. We quiz you by asking you to fill out the chart from memory, then compare your answers against the correct GTO ranges.
